Hi Ray. Well, let me challenge you a bit.
The question I think worth asking is: Does our personal behavior matter?
I think it does and I gather you're suggesting it does not.
Your position suggests that you see consumers as victims of producers.
If only the producers would stop supplying fossil fuels, if only they didn't build that pipeline, consumers would then stop burning.
I can't buy into that. I'll agree with you that big companies have a great deal of influence over policy, regulation, incentive, etc. Big Oil is Corrupt, bumper stickers should be issued. I agree.
But I'm tired of hearing people who drive two cars to soccer games or coffee meetings complain about what government or big oil isn't doing to stop climate change.
If we as consumers aren't willing to consume less, then I wonder why we think the blame lies elsewhere?
Will individuals change enough to save the planet? Of course we won't. But we are hypocrites if we don't look inward.
